Barb Wire is the titular protagonist of the Barb Wire comics. She owns a club Hammerhead in the city of Steel Harbor. To make more money, Barb Wire works as a bounty hunter and a mercenary.
During Arcudi's original run of the series, Barb Wire was a bounty hunter who would resort to violence to solve a problem and kill her enemies without a second thought. She would even kill them for petty acts such as calling her "babe."
In movie adaptation of the comics, she rescued a girl from mobsters and delivered her to her parents for a reward. When the parents could only come up with half of it. she threatens to deliver half of their daughter, implying that she would slice an innocent bounty if she was not paid enough. The parents were forced to give Barb Wire their car so they could have their daughter back. Barb also killed a mobster in a gruesome way for calling her "babe" like in the comics.
Barb Wire also became somewhat of a secondary antagonist in The Mask: World Tour comics. When The Mask appears in Steel Harbor and makes a false step in front of Barb, she tries to hunt and eliminate The Mask and General Blaine. Superheroes King Tiger and Dr. Snider tries to get to the general first because if Barb does get to them first, it would cause Steel Harbor to explode.
